A Weekend at the Lake

This past weekend Tom and I went down to see the Knolls at the lake. My sister, her husband, and baby live there. I haven't been able to see them much during lake season so I was excited to spend some time on the boat... not to mention squeezing that sweet baby. Despite some minor boat malfunctions we were able to get on the water by 12:00 noon on Saturday and spend the day watching the races.

On Sunday we woke up and spent the morning skiing before heading home. I was excited to learn I could still water ski! It's been nearly 15 years since my last attempt.

Joe is all ready to boat!
He is the happiest baby and so easy to make laugh!
Even all scrunched up in the life jacket he never cried.
On the boat, heading out.
On the boat with Uncle TJ
On the boat with Aunt Ashley
It didn't take long before he was fast asleep.

Tom watching the skiers. He kind of looks like a model...right?!
Below is a vide of Tom skiing and Joe laughing. We had a great weekend and enjoyed beautiful weather and a lot of laughs.

Another Friend Heads West

The first week of August I had the privilege of helping a friend and bridesmaid, Lara, move to Colorado. We had a great drive out west and drove it to beautiful blue skies.
Tom's best man, Paul, was in Colorado and so graciously volunteered to come help us move boxes. We got everything moved and set up by late afternoon at which point we climbed out the window and enjoyed a beer on the roof before heading to dinner.
Although we spent a lot of time getting Lara all settled in we did get to enjoy some fun Coloradoness. On Wednesday night I went to Red Rocks for the second time. We saw Primus and Flaming Lips. Both those bands are a bit eccentric and put on quite a show.

Red Rock is an awesome venue...we had a great time.
Each morning I got up early enough to enjoy a run. Lara has two great running trails within a couple miles of her apartment. The views were incredible.

We also went for a very quick hike one day. It's just amazing how many beautiful things are so close to where she lives.

And finally when the week ended me heart broke just a little. Another friend heads west and yet Colorado continues to call. Maybe someday... Below are some pictures we shot at the reservoir our last few hours in town.

Engagement Pictures

We have debated on whether or not we wanted engagement photos and when we would get them taken. When our photographer offered us two extra hours on our wedding day in exchange for the engagement shoot we decided that would be a good move. We have a friend who takes phenomenal pictures and decided we would ask him for some help. JP and his wife, Kelsey, were eager to help and even went to scout out the location. Tom chose the Shaw Nature Reserve off of highway 44 and a great choice it was! The weather cleared beautifully and it was just slightly sweaty! The wildflowers were gorgeous as well as the rest of the grounds. We had a great time and Tom was a wonderful sport. Below are a few of our very favorite. I was shocked to see that there were actually tons of great shots captured.

Loved this picture taking day so much...exactly 14 months until the big day! Ugh! I will say the last 2.5 have gone fast.
