Holla's 30th Birthday in Nashville

Holla turned 30 and decided that she would like to spend the weekend in Nashville. Tom and I drove down after work on Friday to meet up with Lara, her parents, granny and her brother, Jay. We immediately head out even though it was already 11 pm! I NEVER ever go out that late so I was a little nervous about being able to hang. However, the bars were fun with karaoke and live music. It was a fun night to celebrate 30 years of Holla.

heading home... 3:00 am! woof.

Saturday was a beautiful day. It was noon before everyone got going though! First, we went to a great little lunch spot. After a stop at the art museum Tom, Lara and I went hiking through a local park. It was so green. We just went on a simple little hike but it was nice to be out and enjoying the weather.

Saturday night we went out to a nice restaurant for Lara's birthday dinner. The food was delicious. After dinner we were all pretty tired so we just went back to the hotel and hung out.

All in all it was a great weekend in Nashville. We had a lot of fun celebrating with Lara and enjoyed seeing parts of the city. The drive home was beautiful. We kept passing these huge fields of yellow flowers that made the fields look gold. It was hard to capture but I kept trying.

Portland Visit for Heather's Baby Shower

In April I was so lucky to be able to travel to Portland to visit my friend, Heather, and her family. Heather is pregnant with baby Richard Jay (RJ). We are so excited for him to be born. Heather was my Matron of Honor in my wedding this past fall and was so wonderful. I really wanted to be able to return the favor and be there for her baby shower.  I arrived on Thursday evening and we immediately went to Katrina's fourth grade performance. She sang a solo and did a wonderful job.

On Friday morning after the kids went to school the adults went to a delicious breakfast then off to the Tulip Festival. It was a beautiful day and there were so many gorgeous rows of tulips. Tulips are my favorite flower so I was thrilled!

On Saturday afternoon we had Heather's shower. We spent the morning shopping then went home so we could all shower and get ready. Heather looked great. We took some pictures in the backyard before we went over to the shower.

The theme of the shower was Storybook. The hostesses did a great job with adorable decorations and delicious food.

This picture is obviously turned but this is the alphabet book that all the guests made for RJ.

Great gifts! Heather got a ton of wonderful things.
The Baker family practiced later. Dave, always the comedian, had us laughing as he put "the baby" in the car seat.

On Sunday morning we all woke up and went to Miles' soccer game before church. He is a great soccer player now and it was very fun to watch. I have been watching him since he was a little guy so it was so fun to see how much better he has become.

Heather lives in a great neighborhood with tons of kids. The ice cream truck came by a lot. All the kids would run up to get a treat!

I always feel like Oregon is beautiful everywhere you look. These are a few shots from around Heather's neighborhood.

Next time I am in Portland Tom will be with me and we will be meeting baby RJ. Can't wait!
