St. Louis Snow 2013

I love a good snow storm. I am a busy body and appreciate the excuse it gives me to sit inside and do nothing for the day. It really is so nice. December and January were very mild this year so I assumed the snow would never fall. We actually did end up having a couple good snow storms...they were just waiting for lacrosse season to start! Toward the end of February we got a good bit of snow fall in the middle of the day. Tom left for work but Missouri Baptist called school first thing in the morning. I started to clean the house and bake but before I knew it Tom was on his way back him. We were drinking wine and playing Rummikub before noon (don't judge). We had a fire in the first place. I couldn't imagine a better day!

 Later in the day we took a walk. Everyone who wasn't allowed to leave work was heading home but the roads were still covered. We watched and helped many stuck vehicles as we walked up Manchester Road to Des Peres park.

The second snow storm didn't come until March 24th. So late in the season and it dumped about a foot of snow on St. Louis. It was a Sunday so we enjoyed just laying around inside and watching the snow fall. The roads were cleared quickly so we only had a late start on Monday. All the snow was melted by Wednesday. What a beautiful way to end the winter season.

 Onto the next season. I cannot wait for some great spring days. I love the snow but it's time for sunshine and shorts!

Christmas Day

This year Christmas seemed to fly by. On Christmas Day my dad was sick and didn't get to leave his bedroom. That was the gift we were most excited to give so that was kind of a bummer. We ended up getting together on New Year's Day to give it to him. I was a little under the weather myself. It ended up being a sinus infection, but on Christmas Day I had zero appetite, chills and a sore throat. Next day was full fledged migraine and sinus infection. Bummer, but alas I survived. Many other Rau family members were taken out by the flu so I guess it could have been worse. I did really enjoy my first Christmas as a Mueth and just love spending the holidays with my husband.

It's so fun that there's often a first Christmas taking place at my parent's house! LOTS of babies. This year was Trey's first Christmas. Last year was Reese and the year before was Joe! I loved watching Trey open his presents...with a little help of course.

Ever since we were little we have taken a picture on the stairs. We have forgotten just a few years. We stand in youngest to oldest order in our pjs. When we were very little we would all be in matching pjs and would have to go back upstairs and come running back down for the video camera. I love me some holiday traditions.

We didn't get a white Christmas but did get a little snow right after the holiday. The first snow at our new house! Notice the precious new tree in the front yard....hope the snow helps it grow :)

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

This was the second year Tom and I cut down a Christmas tree. I was really excited to decorate our house this year. We went out on a gorgeous 70 degree day the first weekend in December. His mom, sister, brother in law and nephew joined us. It was a bit bizarre to be cutting a Christmas tree down in shorts (or sweating in long sleeves) but it was really nice to simply enjoy being outside. We hiked all over and Tom found a perfect little tree.

 It didn't take any time at all to get the tree up and decorated. We have very few ornaments so we really couldn't have had any bigger however, it does look a bit small in our living room. Regardless, we love the festivity of the tree and lights at this time of the year. Nothing is quite as warm feeling as Christmas lights and a fire in the fire place.

 I've been wanting to start some traditions of our own since I grew up on holiday traditions. I guess traditions come a bit more naturally but I wanted to be somewhat intentional about them. I decided a great way of building our ornament collection would be through buying each other an ornament representing the year. The ornaments were left in our shoes by each other on St. Nick's Day. Hope this is a tradition that lasts. I gave Tom a house since this is the year we bought our first house. He gave me a lantern as an inside joke from our wedding.

 I am looking forward to the rest of the holiday season. It's fun to be Mrs. Mueth and to share this time of year with both of our families.

Yoga and Home Improvements

I cannot believe it has been a month since my last post. I have been busy but not too busy. I guess you can say I have been distracted. However, lacrosse season has ended and summer has started. My tennis league began on Wednesday and I am looking forward to being around more this summer. I also decided to finally jump in and do the yoga challenge. 

I began on April 30 to try and complete 60 classes in 60 days. Today I finished my 13 class in 11 days. I will take a class tomorrow and then will need to take off for the weekend. It has been so awesome so far. I see major differences in just these first 11 days. Almost 1/4 of the way through! Here is my pretty little chart that hangs on the wall at Bikram Yoga Chesterfield. I get a sticker each time I complete a class!

Just for an image... here is me after a double I completed. I did a 4:30 class...rested for a half hour...then did a 6:30 class. I had to do that to make up for the days I will miss this weekend. I wish this picture could truly capture how sweaty I get in this thing. It is so hard but so awesome.

Tom and I have also had lots of fun doing house stuff. Here is Tom using his new bbq grill he got from his family for his birthday. I am so excited to grill on the patio this summer. Behind him are the veggies I am attempting to grow!

We also did our first outdoor work this past weekend. It was pretty tough. The old owners had a raised garden bed but it was all deteriorated. We decided to pull up all the railroad ties. After much work we got them up! AND CARRIED THEM TO THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE! woof.

 Next job: fill in the trench and figure out what to do with the back grass. Home ownership is fun, but exhausting.
