Colorado Anniversary Trip: Day 2

In June 2011 Tom and I went on a vacation to Colorado for Memorial Day weekend. It was a great week complete with an engagement proposal and a "yes!" However, that trip was made difficult by a lot of leftover snow from the winter. We had a hard time on every hike we attempted. There was just too much snow to do the complete hike. On one day in particular we tried a hike outside of Breckenridge. It was beautiful, but after hiking a snow packed road for a very long time we decided we would probably not make it to the trailhead and opted to head back to Breckenridge Brewery instead.

Fast Forward to September 2014.
For day 2 we picked a hike between Alma, where we were staying, and Breckenridge. We pulled off of highway 9 and parked. We both looked at each other and said, "This looks familiar". We started walking up the road since our rental car could not make it to the trailhead. We quickly realized we were on the same trail we attempted in June 2011 on our engagement trip. This time we not only made it to the trailhead but we did the entire hike. It was phenomenal. Such beautiful views all around and perfect weather. The beginning pictures show the snow packed hike to compare it to the hike we did this time around.

When we reached the top of the climb we sat at a beautiful lake and ate lunch. It was perfect.
