We spent two nights of our trip at Limekiln State Park in Big Sur. We decided to spend the second day exploring this beautiful area. We woke up early and decided to go to Big Sur Bakery for a coffee and breakfast. Although very expensive, the breakfast was delicious and the surroundings were beautiful. We sat on the lovely deck in the sun and discussed the rest of our day. This was the breakfast that turned Tom (typically a non coffee drinker) into a vanilla latte lover. It also helped my cause in needing to find a coffee shop every morning.

After breakfast we went to begin a hike. We drove along the beautiful (and very foggy) coast to Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. We saw the much talked about McWay Falls and did a short hike there. The hike was closed partway in so we had to find another option.

We ended up leaving Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park and went down the road to another trail. It was long, but it was so pretty. We had many amazing coastal views along the way.
We had a lovely day doing a very long hike. At the end of the day we were spent. Everyone we talked to told us to try Nepenthe for dinner so we drove straight there. There was a wait (even mid afternoon on a Sunday) so we got a drink and waited. Best mojito I have ever had. All the tables at Nepenthe are beautiful coastal views. We had an amazing dinner with perfect weather.
After dinner it was back to Limekiln for another night of camping. We enjoyed the evening on the beach and went to bed early. We could watch for dolphins and whales from our beach. It was truly the best way to end a day.
